Village Theatre’s first public theatre class brings students from across the Round Rock community together to create, rehearse, and perform an original theatrical production. Students won’t just act, they will collaborate to write their own play, design elements of the production, and bring their ideas to life on stage. No previous theatre experience is required, just a willingness to participate, collaborate, and try something new.

More Than an Acting Class

Theatre gives young people a chance to be heard, take creative risks, build meaningful friendships, and experience what can happen when a group works together toward a shared goal.

Throughout the semester, students will explore:

Acting and character development
Improvisation and creative storytelling
Voice, movement, and stage presence
Collaboration and ensemble-building
Rehearsal skills and theatre responsibility
Confidence in speaking and performing before an audience
Playwriting and story creation as a group
Basic design concepts for costumes, set, and staging

Students will work together to create an original play from the ground up, developing ideas, shaping characters, and making creative decisions about how the story is told. They will also contribute to elements of costume, set, and staging, gaining a deeper understanding of how a production comes together.

At the end of the semester, students will share their original work in a final performance for family, friends, and the community.

We believe theatre is more than a performance.

It is a place where young people can find their voice, discover their strengths, build lasting relationships, and contribute to something that could not exist without them.

Our programs balance fun with meaningful expectations. Students are encouraged to be imaginative and take risks while also learning that theatre depends on preparation, responsibility, kindness, and teamwork.

In this class, students are not just performers, they are creators. They will help shape the story, make artistic choices, and see how their ideas contribute to a finished production.

Every student matters to the ensemble. Not every child needs to want the biggest role or dream of becoming a professional actor. Some arrive ready for the spotlight. Others are working toward speaking loudly enough to be heard, sharing an idea with a group, or feeling like they finally found their people.

Both kinds of growth deserve to be celebrated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need previous theatre experience?

No. The class is open to beginners as well as students who already have acting or performance experience.

Is there an audition?

No audition is required. Students may participate at their current experience and confidence level.

Are costumes required?

Village Theatre will provide guidance about basic costume needs. Students will also participate in simple costume design ideas as part of the creative process. Families will not need to purchase any costumes. Families will provide appropriate shoes and basic clothing to wear under costumes, typically a black shirt with black shorts or pants. Specific requirements will be shared well before the performance.

What happens after I register?

Families will receive a confirmation email after both the registration form and tuition payment have been received. Additional information, policies, and the complete class schedule will be sent before the first class.

What is the attendance expectation?

Consistent attendance is important because every student contributes to the ensemble and final production. Families should review the Class Schedule before enrolling and communicate known conflicts during registration.

What is the refund policy?

If a family withdraws:

More than 30 days before the program begins: Tuition refunded minus registration fee.
14-29 days before: 50% tuition refund.
Less than 14 days before or after the program begins: No refund.

Medical emergencies may be considered for future program credit at the discretion of Village Theatre.

If Village Theatre cancels a program, families will receive a full refund of all tuition paid.
